Laughing Banana Enterprises Ltd – What’s that all about then? I hear you ask
Well the explanation goes back to October 2006, but first a little background info.

Every .co.uk domain is registered for a fixed period of 2 years (unlike .coms which have several options). Once the 2 years have expired, the owner has the option to renew for a further 2 years, however if they decide not to renew the domain will expire (in about 3 months from the renewal date) and will then be available for anyone to register. In practice however if the name is a good one it will be snapped up in a few milliseconds by a “dropcatcher” with their own custom written software. There is no chance of manually registering a good name. In the summer of 2006 I was experimenting with writing my own dropcatching software and by October 2006 had caught my first good domain name (LBE.co.uk). Classed as good because it is short and all 3 letter domains were taken over 10 years ago, so the only way to get one is purchase from the existing owner or “catch” one that doesn’t get renewed, which doesn’t happen that often.

Anyway, now we are getting close to answering the question, so bear with me.
I decided that I couldn’t bear to part with my first decent successful catch, so I decided to set up a business using the domain name LBE.co.uk. The decision made, all I now wanted was a name using the initials LBE. After getting some feedback from friends relatives etc. I finally decided on the name Laughing Banana Enterprises. I hope it’s memorable enough to make you remember my website lbe.co.uk, it certainly seems to get me noticed and I’m always asked what I do when paying in cheques etc into the bank.
